On CES2012 in Las Vegas USA, Samsung unveiled the new features of Smart TV platform. Signature Services were introduced.
There are three main Smart TV signature services:
Family Story – this application allows users to share their photos taken using smart phones via Samsung Smart TVs for the whole family and friends.
Fitness – application that allows user to set the workout goal and do the workout with the Smart TV. The user is able to monitor his weight loss, BMI change and also track the progress of other users. Application uses WiFi scale and smart phone application Noom. All video workouts are provided by external applications such as Fitness VOD.
Kids - application for children entertainment.
All above services are available in stock for 2012 Samsung Smart TVs. I was part of the team that created Fitness application.
Discovered I had an issue on Netflix today,(first time back in Netflix after the "Samsung Signature Services (Fitness) app ending April 1st". Netflix was properly Logged-in but attempting to start a Movie I would get a Message like "Netflix unavailable try later" (More Info would show a good Network/Netflix connection. I did a Logoff then Login back to Neflix which resolved the issue allowing Movie to properly Start.
I assume that Samsung customer services monitor these sites. Even a third rate IT techie could disable this very, very annoying message which appears every time I turn on the TV. I hereby make a solemn oath: if this message is not disabled within one week of this post, I will never buy a Samsung product again!
Got message re signature service ending (which I never subscribed to), not I get only a totally black screen when turn on tv and can do nothing. Help please.
Until yesterday (2 March 2015), it appeared that the Signature Service was going to end on 1st April. But today, I am unable to get any of the channels I used to get through ASTRO TV Service. What shall I do to get back? Thanks.
I am neither the asker nor the answerer. I found this on Samsung's site. Paid Apps Termination: I received a notice about paid apps termination. Does this mean that I won’t be able to use apps like Netflix, Hulu Plus, Amazon Instant Video, VUDU, M-GO, Redbox Instant by Verizon, Pandora and Spotify?
No, this only affects applications that were purchased from the Samsung TV Apps Store. This doesn’t affect any video on demand or music services that you subscribe to like Netflix, Hulu Plus, Amazon Instant Video, VUDU, M-GO, Redbox Instant by Verizon, Pandora or Spotify. You will still be able to use these applications.
April 1st can't come fast enough. Im tired of this disruptive message. thanks for telling us something is ending, when you didn't even tell us it existed in the first place.
selecting INFO tells us NOTHING. wasted time trying to figure out what it means only to find it means absolution squat to me. there's nothing to be concerned about losing.
So you clever people at Samsung had nothing else to do but annoy the unfortunate customers who were unlucky enough to buy your TV...
Congratulations you have taken SPAM to a new level and inflict on your TV customers this bizarre message which means nothing and can’t be turned off.
I wonder why take only the top of the screen and not display it across the whole screen so we can see it better and in HD, even better make it stay until 1 April so we can do nothing but stare at it???
Its enough to make me consider ever buying another one of your products.
The Signature Service termination notice is both disturbing and vague although not surprising since Samsung fails not only in serving and communicating with its customers, but also in engineering. The physical properties of Samsung's major appliances are extremely badly designed and of poor quality.
Found this site while searching for ways to disable this stupid notification. Getting same message for weeks on 55 inch 7100. Absolutely ridiculous to pop this on top of everything. NO ONE CARES. Put this crappy dropdown message in smart hub screen where the app is located and stop annoying people trying to use the tv!
Thanks, Tolu, for the link. I too got the stupid message at the top of my Samsung TV. I followed your link and it seems that only certain products are offered Signature Service. I copied and pasted the info below for others to see. My TV is not part of this service and it seems to include installation and troubleshooting support only.

Not happy to hear that fitness is being cancelled off my Smart TV, I use this app and do not understand why they are taking it off. Hope that this is not true!!!!
I was able to find answer to this on another blog. Signature service is special service for high-end appliances (whatever that means) wherein you get things like service tech coming to your house for installation or the like. I don't think it's something I will miss, as I never heard of it anyway. I was worried I was losing something on my "smart" TV that I paid extra in the price tag to get, but this sounds like an outside service that really isn't necessary for day-to-day operations.
I did use the fitness app! Is something else taking its place? Our two Samsung's are only 2 months old and one of them was purchased just for the fitness app. What's up??
So what is the answer to this Message! It makes no sense to me..
If there is a problem you could communicate it in a better format than this annoying message that does not explain how it affects my TV. I have three 40, 42, 55 and no will consider future purchases of Samsung!
What the message on my TV said was that Samsung Signature Service (Fitness) will be stopping. Apparently, this is a Fitness app that I never use...
"Fitness – application that allows user to set the workout goal and do the workout with the Smart TV. The user is able to......"
...so I got all worried for nothing (Thanks Samsung!)
The message on my TV was Soooo annoying. The headline did not mean anything to me, then it would disappear before I had time to find the remote to get more detail.
SAMSUNG: 0/10 Please try harder to communicate clearly with your customers.
same problem with samsung signature service being terminated on april 1. had no idea what that was. tried calling samsung, talked to two reps. could not understand the first one at all, the second one i could barely understand but she said the message only applies to tv's 65" and larger. did not explain what samssung signature actually is. samsung customer service sucks.
Personally, whether I use or do not have knowledge of the app it's a service purchased from and backed by the Samsung reputation which apparently is now synonymous with unreliable. I paid for the service, maintain support or rebate.
seems like Signature service applies only to the large wrap-around TV's, fridge doors etc. Can't find a reference to run of the mill 40" TV's - if I've missed it someone please let me know. Cheers.
Re: samsung fitness signature service will be terminated
Dear Samsung,
In the future please could you use less worrisome words such as 'terminated' in your tv messages as it seems that we are all thinking that our tv's are going to crash and die.
Just saying...
Well said Kira K! I panicked when I saw this msg on screen. If it's just photos, fitness and kids that's being discontinued, fine with me as I don't use these services. But I actually feared it was catch-up TV that was being scrapped! (my only reason for buying a Smart TV!)
I have the same question! Samsung needs to write a simple explanation of what will no longer be available for its customers. That vague unhelpful statement on the screen doesn't tell us anything!
Same here just got that message on tv, have no idea what that is. Samsung signature service Ends April 1st.
I thounght it was something re guarantee maybe. But I bought my f8000 75 inch. In November 2014. So it is still under guarantee. I guess then it's just some of those apps. I never use.
My tv works fine, great picture, ect. But sadly seems to drop wifi sometimes for no reason. When going into my home network computer or hard drive over wifi. And have to resign in to router. But. Viemo and you tube ect. Work fine without dropping the wifi. Kinda strange. But can live with it
Just put my pictures and videos on 32 gig usb keys and and very happy with the rest.
Just saw a crawler that signature services will end April 11th. Didn't even know we had these services. Are the only services the ones explained above (photos, fitness and kids)? Thank you
Go to "menu", "notifications", "delete all"
Notification will go away!
